Peterson Elementary PTA

Peterson Elementary PTA offers a scholarship, permitted by the approved budget, to graduating Northwest ISD seniors
who will be enrolled in an accredited college or university or a technical/vocational institute in the summer or fall
semester immediately following his/her high school graduation. Funds for the scholarship come from Peterson
Elementary PTA membership dues, fundraising, and community sponsorships.


Purpose of Scholarship

The purpose is to support Northwest ISD High School seniors that attended Peterson Elementary School who are
focused on achieving career goals through higher education. In evaluating each application, the Peterson PTA
Scholarship Committee will consider service and participation in school activities, community involvement and
scholastic merit.


Eligibility Requirements


  • Applicant must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Applicant must be a graduating high school senior from any Northwest ISD High School.

  • Applicant must have attended OA Peterson Elementary School at least three years, and be a graduating high school senior.

  • Applicant must be a current member of their high school PTSA or a current member of the Peterson PTA.

  • Applicant’s name must be on the current membership list as of March 1, 2024

  • Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited college or university or a technical/vocational institute in the summer or fall semester immediately following his/her high school graduation.

  • Applicant must submit a completed application and required documents by March 31, 2024 to be eligible for consideration.


Guidelines for Submission

  • In order to qualify, the applicant must complete and submit the following:

  • Peterson PTA Scholarship Application

  • Typed resume listing school activities, community involvement, special recognitions and awards the applicant

  • received in high school. Also, list any work/volunteer experience during the high school years including any

  • PTA/PTSA experience.

  • A copy of current PTA/PTSA membership card

  • A 300 to 500 word essay (typed, double-spaced, Times New Roman 12 pt font, 1 inch margins) discussing how

  • parent/student involvement with PTA/PTSA has impacted the applicant’s education and decision to continue his or

  • her education. In addition, specify how PTSA has helped you throughout your high school career.

  • Letter of Recommendation from a teacher, counselor, community leader, or employer. Letters from relatives will not

  • be accepted.

submitted by email to by March 31, 2024 at 5:00 pm.

Selection and Notification
Selection is made by the Peterson PTA Scholarship Committee. The awardee(s) chosen to receive the Peterson PTA
Scholarship will be notified in April 2023 through email and posted on social media. The awardee(s) must submit a copy
of their acceptance letter from their education institution to the Peterson PTA by May 12, 2023. Upon receipt, a check for
the scholarship amount will be sent directly to the educational institution. All entries submitted to Peterson PTA become
the property of Peterson PTA and will not be returned.

**All decisions of the Scholarship Committee are final**
ALL documents must be received by March 31, 2024 by 5pm.
Submission of additional materials will not be considered
